Approaching from Leeds and the West Riding along the A64

Approaching along the A64 , about four miles before York you pass the Buckles Inn on your left, followed by signs to Askham Bryan Agricultural College. Shortly after the Buckles there is a turning left signposted to Harrogate, along the A1237 , the York Western By pass. Take this turning to Harrogate. Once on the bypass,travelling North West in a clockwise direction around York, there is a roundabout and the third exit is signposted to Foxwood. After about half a mile , there is a mini roundabout. Go straight across this along Askham Lane. Be careful of the speed humps. After about three quarters of a mile, just before a second mini roundabout, Grange Lane turns off to the left. Go along Grange Lane. Do not turn off. Eventually the road turns into a dirt track. Go along this for about 50 yards and fork left. This is Acomb Grange.

Approaching from the Centre of York

Leave the entrance to the station and turn right, with the Minster in the distance behind you. Keep the bar walls on your left side, until you come to traffic lights at a crossroads, with Windmill Hotel on the right. Turn right along Blossom Street for about half a mile, and then turn right into Holgate Road (Signposted as the A59 to Harrogate and Wetherby).

Keep on this road for just over mile until you come to a fork, with the Fox Inn on the right. Take the left hand fork to Acomb and Wetherby (the B1224). Keep straight on, past the Windmill on a hill to the right. After about a mile, you come to the shopping centre at Acomb. Carry straight on through the lights at the junction and then across the mini roundabout.

At the brow of the hill in Acomb, there is a church on the right. Descend the hill, with Acomb village green on the left, still following the main road, to a mini roundabout. Turn left along Ridgeway, to the next mini roundabout at a T junction. Turn right at this and turn right into Grange Lane after about 20 yards. Go along Grange Lane. Do not turn off. Eventually the road turns into a dirt track. Go along this for about 20 yards and fork left. This is drive of Acomb Grange.

There are regular bus services (every ten minutes) from the centre of York. Take a Blue Line 1 bus to Chapelfields from the Theatre Royal or the Railway Station. Get off at the Askham Lane corner of Ridgeway . Grange Lane is just adjacent to Ridgeway. For timetables, click here.

Approaching from Harrogate or Scarborough or from the North East on the A19

From the A64 from Scarborough, or A59 from Harrogate, or A19 from the North East ,follow the York Western bypass , the A 1237 , following the signs to Leeds, travelling South East on the bypass in an anticlockwise direction around York. After the turnoff to Harrogate, the next roundabout is signposted to Rufforth and Wetherby to the right, and York City Centre to the left. Turn left into the City, until you encounter a mini roundabout after half a mile. Turn right along Ridgeway to the next mini roundabout at a T junction. Turn right at this and turn right into Grange Lane after about 20 yards. Go along Grange Lane. Do not turn off. Eventually the road turns into a dirt track. Go along this for about 50 yards and fork left. This is Acomb Grange

Approaching from Hull

Take the A64 southern bypass towards Leeds until you see the western bypass signposted to Harrogate. Turn off here, heading towards Harrogate and follow the directions from the A64 as set out under ' Approaching from Leeds above.

Approaching from The South or West including Lancashire.

Travel from the west along the M62 and join the MI and follow this until it links with the A1. From the south follow the M1 until it links with the A1 ,or follow the A1 from the South. Note that the A1/M1 link is a new motorway that may not yet be on the road maps. Take the A64 from the A1 signposted to York and Scarborough .
